AIMD-American Institute for Management Development

You may earn either the DBA or DM, or possibly both, through separate examinations and experience requirements. All Diplomates agree to abide by the American Institute for Management Development Code of Ethics. Examinations may be taken at any time, and repeated if necessary. Study materials are available in the form of an e-book available for purchase through McGraw-Hill/Primus Publishing. Testing topics for the examinations can be seen below.

Experience Requirements and Fees

Diplomate in Management

In order to receive the designation Diplomate in Management (DM), a candidate must meet one the following experience requirements, and successfully pass the competency examination in management.

1. Possess a bachelor's degree in management, business administration, or a related discipline, and have at least 5 years experience working in a managerial capacity.

2. Possesses a Master's of Business Administration degree, or other graduate degree related to the practice of management, and have at least 3 years of managerial experience.

3. Applicants who do not possess a university degree may be qualified if they possess
at least 10 years of progressive managerial experience.

Diplomate in Business Administration

In order to receive the designation Diplomate in Business Administration (DBA), a candidate must meet one of the following experience requirements and successfully pass the competency examination
in business administration.

1. Possess a bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related discipline, and have at least 5 years working experience in a business organization.

2. Possesses a Master's of Business Administration degree, or other graduate degree related to business,
and have at least 3 years of business experience.

3. Applicants who do not possess a university degree may be qualified if they possess at least 10 years
of progressive business experience.

The fee for either designation is $395. A non-refundable application fee of $100 entitles the candidate to take the examination. If the candidate passes the examination, the remaining $295 is payable to AIMD before the designation is granted and the certificate mailed. The only additional cost for this lifetime designation is the optional study materials available for purchase
through McGraw-Hill/Primus Publishing.

Each examination consists of 100 multiple choice questions.
A passing score is determined by answering 70% or more of the examination questions correctly.
